Assistance dog Tollie

Tollie

Day 40, 2012 I have volunteered to do some photography for The Joys of Living Assistance Dogs. I can’t even begin to describe what an wonderful experience it has been so far. These dogs are incredible. This week they asked if I would shoot a few promotional pieces and the pup at hand is Tollie, a six-year old golden retriever. He’s beautiful and sweet and gentle and has been Toria’s assistance dog for four years now. I still tear up when I think about her story and about how he has changed her life and given her independence.

We did one set of photos for the Help for Heroes program. The Joys of Living Assistance Dogs and the Oregon Paralyzed Veterans of America have teamed up to offer a volunteer program called Help for Heroes. Help for Heroes is an opportunity for veterans to care for and train puppies to become assistance dogs for their disabled comrades.

Tollie was perfect. Toria said that with Tollie “it was all about the ears” and she was so right.

Tollie really rocked my world. Joy worked with Tollie while I worked the camera.

Part of every non-profit organization is the need to raise money. Who could turn this beauty down?

He was so good. Photo after photo, Tollie performed for the camera.

Tollie will take either cash or credit. He’s totally prepared.

Many, many thanks to Toria, Tollie and Joy for a great evening. I am so excited to be working with this group. These dogs are just so amazing.

I’ve sprinkled some of the puppy pics throughout my dog blog Itsa greyt day.
