When seasons collide

Our yard seems a bit ambivalent about which season it should be celebrating. Cosmos have always been a favorite flower of mine. I was reminded why when I saw them co-mingling with the Japanese maple that is in full color right now.

    Really red

    Day 217, 2012 I looked up red in the Wikipedia. It’s probably the longest page I have ever seen. Red is good, evil, romantic, patriotic, religious. It was used in some of the earliest paintings known to man. Dogs and bulls can’t see it. Nature sports it in fruits, vegetables and meats. But my favorites...

      Springtime in the valley

      Day 138, 2012 I love this time of year. I love the fresh smell in the air, I love the new growth and I especially love the flowers that grow so plentiful in the valley. Oregon is a great place to be… always.

        Who says the Pacific Northwest does not have it’s own color palette? This is from the flower seed field yesterday. The blue flowers are bachelor buttons, the orange flowers are California poppys, the yellow flowers are African daisies and I have no clue what they are growing in the purple band.
