When I walk out the door with my camera in hand, I can’t help but think I am the luckiest person I know. I wish each of our doggies a good day and promise I’ll be home soon. When I come back home, it doesn’t matter where I have been or what kind of day I’ve had, I’m greeted with wagging tails and sloppy wet kisses. Everyone should be so lucky, everyone should be greeted like they are the most important person in the world.
How do I repay the joy that my dogs bring to me? I volunteer my time and my talent to take photos for three non-profit organizations.
Greyhound adoption is nearest and dearest to my heart. I have been involved in greyhound adoption at some level since the day I brought my first greyhound home. Oregon Greyhound Adoption is a small group of volunteers dedicated to finding forever homes for retired racing greyhounds.
The Joys of Living Assistance Dogs bring shear joy to my heart every day. I’ve watched puppies enter the world and fully-trained dogs assist their owners. I am in complete awe of these amazing dogs.
Marion County Dog Shelter is the county shelter that brings stray and lost dogs to safety. If the dogs are not claimed by their owners after a certain period of time, the dogs are placed into the adoption program. When I first started taking photos, I was afraid that it would be hard on my heart, but now I look forward to my photo days. Dogs are the true testament to forgiveness and these dogs are no different. When they find their new families they are grateful and happy and forgiving. We have met some of the best dogs out there. If the Inn weren’t full, I’m sure I would have found one or two or 100 to bring home.
