Corset of glass
When I lived in this area 20 years ago, Tacoma was a sleeper town, an industrial town kept alive by container ships lining the docks.
In recent years it has come back to life through the art of glass. It’s fragile beauty contrasts the town I knew and loved two decades ago.
We are staying at the Hotel Murano. 25 floors tower just a few blocks from Commencement Bay.
I spent some time this afternoon bouncing from floor to floor discovering the art showcased on each floor by 25 different artists.
This was done by Susan Taylor Glasgow. On her website, this is how she defines her work,
My work embraces the feminine ideals of sewing and cooking, but in a contrary material, offering conflicting messages of comfort and expectation.
I saw some beautiful work today, but this remains my favorite piece.
