Mt. Hood at twilight

ISO 100, 24mm, f/4.0, 30.0 sec

Day 657 After the mountain was socked in on Thursday,  I knew I had to get back up there and I watched the weather forecasts like a hawk. There was a window Saturday evening at sunset. I had to go.

As we drove along the I-5 corridor in the valley, it looked pretty darn cloudy to the east, the Cascade mountains were no where to be found. Once we passed through Sandy, Oregon however, Mt. Hood boldly stood before us.

We got there just as planned, about 30 minutes before sunset and the reflection in Trillium Lake was beautiful. Clearly I wasn’t the only photographer watching the weather, I think I counted a total of nine tripods all lined up ready to catch the show.

This was taken an hour after sunset, and I am proud to wear the badge that I was the last man (or woman) standing. Everyone had packed up and left by this point.

It doesn’t get any better than this.
