A Tail-Wagging Affair: Kiwi and Sterling's Spectacular Dog Wedding
When Kiwi met Sterling, it was love at first paw. These two Silken Windhounds, who are staying as “exchange students” before their big move to New Zealand, captured hearts with their whirlwind romance. To commemorate their budding love story, a New Year's Eve wedding was planned—and what a celebration it was.
A Paws-itively Romantic Backstory
Kiwi has been part of the family since August, effortlessly lighting up the home with her playful nature. Sterling, on the other hand, made his grand entrance just two weeks ago—but it didn't take long for these two to become inseparable. Whether romping in rain-filled fields or occasionally chewing on shoes (and non-chewable household items), Kiwi and Sterling proved they were a match made in doggy heaven.
The start of their fairytale was nothing short of cinematic. Their first photo was set against snowy, tree-lined fields, showcasing the dreamy beginning of their love story. After a brief courtship, Sterling decided to take the ultimate paw forward with a proposal. The ring—a dazzling solitaire soft blue squeak diamond with a yellow-gold band—was pawed over. Kiwi, taking her time to consider, eventually said yes to both the ring and the dress.
A Dress to Remember
Speaking of the dress, Kiwi’s gown was the kind of showstopper that could rival anything on a Paris runway. Designed by a close family friend, her custom-made dress featured a bodice that elegantly rested above her shoulders and cinched at an empire waistline. The gown sparkled like freshly fallen snow, with delicate lace flowers adding timeless charm. But the pièce de résistance was undoubtedly her chiffon train—double-layered with matching lace, subtly fastened mid-back and cascading behind her.
Sterling, not to be outdone, looked every bit the dashing groom in a tailored tuxedo complete with a black bow tie and onyx buttons on his shirt and cuffs. Together, they looked like the canine power couple dreams are made of.
Pre-Wedding Festivities
The build-up to the big day was just as memorable. The bachelor and bachelorette parties—held in the household forest—were attended by the entire fur-family. There was plenty of frolicking, well-wishes, and of course, endless excitement to honor the soon-to-be newlyweds.
The Wedding Day
On the moonless night of December 31, 2024, under a cool winter sky, Kiwi and Sterling exchanged vows in a simple yet heartfelt ceremony that melted every onlooker’s heart. To seal the deal, they shared their first kiss as husband and wife, surrounded by love and paw-sitive vibes from their human and dog companions.
The celebration didn't end there. Guests were treated to a stunning wedding cake from MiMi’s Cupcakery in Salem. Covered in pristine white frosting and adorned with delectable peanut butter frosting, the cake was a crowd favorite and capped off the evening beautifully.
A New Chapter Begins
From dashing tuxedos to sparkling lace gowns, romps in the forest to heartfelt vows, Kiwi and Sterling’s wedding was a delightful paw-ty full of love and joy. Surrounded by their favorite humans and furry family, the two lovebirds—er, lovehounds—embarked on their new life together with full hearts (and probably full tummies, thanks to that cake).
Here’s to Kiwi and Sterling, and their happily-ever-after!
