Who am I?
Truth be told, it's a mystery to all of us. Trusted sources tell me everyone wants to know more about the nut behind the wheel, me, the pet photographer.
Here's my timeline in a nutshell. I grew up in the snowstorms of Montana, went to college, had two baby girls, moved to the Pacific Northwest and settled in Salem, Oregon in 1990. Went back to college and received my degree in Visual Communications. My day job has been graphic design since 1995 and I added photography to my resume in 2012.
The race that began a lifetime
My journey really begins with the adoption of my first greyhound, Fonzi. That boy is responsible for all of the roads untraveled. I immediately began volunteering and fostering. The perfect adoption of two greyhounds blossomed into a new relationship and the acre which is now at the heart of Terri Jacobson Photography.
Get goats! They said
Landscaping became the obsession du jour for the acre. It took at least 15 tons of flagstone, 12 pallets of wall retaining brick, a minimum of 40 bamboo, and lots of blood, sweat and tears over five years to create our very own paradise.
A herd of four Nigerian dwarf goats are our daily supply of joy juice and happy thoughts.
Farm fresh eggs
Of course, every paradise no matter its size must include a flock of chickens. These delightful ladies are our pets with benefits.
Our little slice of wildlife
The wild birds are perhaps the best kept secret of our gardens.
Our gardens have seen hummingbirds, flickers, scrub jays, downy woodpeckers, eagles, vultures, hawks, owls and one day, we had a blue heron perched at the top of a tree.
Just hanging
My best days have been, currently are, and will forever be just hanging with our dogs.
Full disclosure, the two pin-up photos were done at Portland Pin-ups in Portland, OR. Mike Long is genius behind the lens and wields mean editing skills in Photoshop.
The photos of me are all selfies I did in 2019 as a fun project.
I have an idea!
How would you like to update your selfie with your dog?

Terri Jacobson - Thank you. The goats are so much fun. They are powerful and stubborn when they want to be, but they really are cool critters.

Terri Jacobson - Thank you. I think I did a series of 21. I stopped with the racing greyhound because the next day she had a rear leg amputation for cancer.
I really want to do the project again. It was so much fun.

Michelle - Terri these photos are breathtaking! WOW! I laughed out loud at your title, nothing bland like Portland Pet Photographer, but "the nut behind the wheel" actually seems to fit perfectly! 🤣 Great post!
